Dr Joaquín Tomás Valderrama-Valenzuela is a Senior Research Scientist and currently the Head of the ‘Electrophysiology Measures’ division at the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL). He also holds an Honorary Research Fellow position at Macquarie University. Dr Valderrama-Valenzuela has successfully led several research projects in auditory neuroscience, and the excellence of his research is internationally recognised by his (i) invited talks at international conferences and seminars, (ii) guest lectures at different universities, (iii) invitations to review scientific papers for international journals, and (iv) prestigious awards such as the ‘Alhameño Oriundo 2020 Medal’ and the ‘NAL Research Excellence Award 2020’. Dr Valderrama-Valenzuela has published 17 scientific papers (10 as the lead author), 1 book chapter, is co-inventor of 2 patents, has co-supervised 3 PhD students (1 in progress), and is currently the Honorary President of Spanish Researchers in Australia-Pacific (SRAP), a not-for-profit organization of over 200 Spanish researchers working in Australia.
