Percentage Loss of Hearing Calculator

The percentage Loss of Hearing (PLH) Calculator is a user friendly Windows based software package designed to enable users to easily calculate an individual’s PLH. The calculation is based on the input of appropriately measured pure tone hearing thresholds and demographic data (age & gender).

NAL Report No 118, January 1988 Improved Procedure for Determining Percentage Loss of Hearing provided the basis for the calculation. This methodology has been accepted in all Australian jurisdictions as the defined method for calculating PLH and is used, for example, for the awarding of compensation to individuals who suffer hearing loss from workplace noise exposure.
