Digital Signal Processing (DSP) offers many features that are not available in analogue hearing aids. Besides a more sophisticated processing of the sound signal, DSP has many other features which are not related to the sound processing, but which provide dispenser and user benefits. SENSO by Widex is a series of fully digital hearing aids that are unique in that they offer to the dispenser 'in-situ' audiometry - called Sensogram. We will describe the fitting strategy behind the use of the Sensogram in selecting the initial fitting parameters and why this quick in-situ test is as good as the more time-consuming loudness growth estimation procedures.
