Fitting Advanced Digital Technology in the Digital 5000 Brent Edwards DSP technology has allowed manufacturers to introduce many sophisticated signal processing algorithms that could not be implemented with current analog technology. While this increased capability has great potential, care must be taken to allow the algorithms to be fit to the specific needs and hearing loss configurations of the individual patients. ReSound's Digital 5000 has utilized the DSP capabilities to add several innovative features whose benefits are maximized when properly fit by the audiologist. These include 14-band compression, digital directionality, noise reduction and feedback cancellation. An overview of how these algorithms can be optimally configured for individual patients will be presented. |
