Development of Hearing Test Materials and Protocols

(Research Project CRC C7)

Project Leaders: Harvey Dillon/ Teresa Ching

Broad Objectives: To develop speech tests that are more suited to particular applications than are existing speech tests. The aims include tests with greater sensitivity in mainstream languages such as English, and tests which can readily be generalised to many languages, particularly Australian Aboriginal languages.

Hypothesis: Generate, record and standardise a new set of sentence test materials based upon the BKB sentence list format.  The test material will comprise 80 lists each of 16 sentences, and will be used to derive "signal-to-noise-ratio" benefit measures for noise reduction, multiple microphone and binaural strategies in amplification.
