Hearing aid prescriptions for children

(Research Program C3.8)

Project Leader: Teresa Ching, Australian Hearing

Broad Objectives: To determine the amplification requirements of children with different degrees of hearing losses by evaluating whether NAL-NL1 or DSL[i/o] is better suited to prescribing non-linear hearing aids for children.

An application for research grant has been submitted to Oticon Foundation. The start date of the project depends on availability of funding.

Hypothesis:

a) That the prescription procedure used to prescribing non-linear hearing aids for children affects the listening outcomes;

b) That hearing aid experience has no effect on amplification requirements.
