Noise Sensitive Adaptive Amplification

(Research Project B3.4)

Project Leader: Michael Fisher, Australian Hearing

Broad Objectives: To maximize intelligibility and comfort and minimize the intrusiveness of background noise in hearing aids through the combination of the NAL-NL1 prescription procedure and an adaptive noise reduction scheme.

Hypothesis:

  1. That hearing impaired subjects prefer processing with an adaptive reaction times over processing with either a short or a long reaction time.
  2. That hearing impaired subjects prefer the combination of the NAL-NL1 prescription with an adaptive noise reduction scheme to the NAL-NL1 prescription alone.
