HEARING AID AMPLIFICATION FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM

15-19 November 1999, Sydney

Incorporating a Seminar on

Conquering Hearing Problems: Scientists and Consumers Working Together

Presented by

The National Acoustic Laboratories, in association with the Cooperative Research Centre for Cochlear Implants, Speech and Hearing Research

The conference focused on the latest research in the design, fitting and use of hearing aids. It emphasised research with clinical applications. The first day was a seminar at which people wearing hearing aids, parents and teachers of hearing-impaired children, and other interested members of the public, joined with scientists and audiologists to discuss what was needed in future hearing aids and associated rehabilitation procedures. The remaining days presented a mixture of invited papers, free papers, and posters. The final day included an industry presentation on the latest in hearing aid technology, followed by an instructional course on using the NAL non-linear fitting procedure with a variety of advanced hearing aids. Speakers included the late Denis Byrne (NAL), Harvey Dillon (NAL), Robyn Cox (Memphis), Robert Sweetow (San Francisco) and Hans Verschuure (Rotterdam), and others.

The Conference abstracts by more than 70 speakers are posted here.
